While her husband faces a trial in New York, former First Lady Melania Trump starts selling a Mother's Day necklace online.
Washington- Melania Trump has come up with something very special for this year's Mother's Day on May 12th: On its website, customers can now purchase a necklace as a gift that can be personalized with their own engravings. In doing so, the former First Lady is not only tying in with the conservative narrative of upholding mothers.
“Your Love and Gratitude – a customizable necklace designed by Melania Trump in honor of all mothers” and of course: “Made in America”. With these words, Trump advertises the thin gold-plated chain with a clover leaf pendant, which can be purchased directly on her homepage for $245. The front of the pendant can be customized, and Melania Trump's signature is engraved on the back.
Melania Trump's Mother's Day jewelry: a gesture of respect?
“Being a mother is one of the most important roles in life,” quoted The Hill the former first lady. For this Mother's Day, she designed the “Her Love & Gratitude” necklace to express gratitude and honor all mothers. Melania Trump's own mother, Amalija Knavs, died earlier this year at the age of 78. The family buried her near their Mar-a-Lago property. At the funeral, the daughter gave an emotional speech about her relationship with her mother, in which she described Knavs, among other things, as a “ray of light in the darkest days.” After her mother's death, Melania Trump remained in seclusion for some time until she returned to the public last month. Her role at her husband's side is sometimes important for his election campaign.
However, the former First Lady has not yet announced what will happen to the proceeds from the sale of the necklaces. Her husband Donald Trump is facing either a prison sentence or a fine in the current court case over hush money payments to the erotic actress Stormy Daniels. The president has already had to shell out more than $500 million in other lawsuits and is accused in three other cases. Present matters Donald Trump Although one of the 500 richest people in the world, his wealth is from Forbes estimated at $4.6 billion. A large part of this goes back to the shares in his own media company.
A large part of Trump's assets are stocks – the value of which fluctuates
The former president owns loudly Handelsblatt 58.75 million of these “DJT” shares, with another 36 million likely to follow. This means that the total share value is currently more than four billion US dollars. However, after going public there is still a blocking period during which Trump is not allowed to sell the shares. And the value of the securities also fluctuates; recently the company's stock market price has fallen significantly. Trump's trial, which began on Monday, is unlikely to be of any help. (ses)
