Minister reaffirmed that the Lula government's dialogue with Congress is maintained, despite criticism from the president of the Chamber
The Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilhasaid this Monday (April 22, 2024) that the tension with the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), is overcome and continues to maintain dialogue with Congress. He stated that he entered political life “to aggregate, not to attack“.
“I came to politics to aggregate, not to attack. I learned this during my political life. For me, this is an overdone episode. The government dialogue continues”declared Padilha in an interview with CNN Brazil this Monday (April 22).
On April 11, Lira said that the head of the Institutional Relations Secretariat was “incompetent” and called him “personal disaffection”. The statements were given to journalists at an agro-industrial fair in the city of Londrina, in the north of Paraná. The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was quick to come to Padilha’s defense and said that he would continue in the ministry “just out of stubbornness”.
For this year, Padilha stated that Lula will be more active in political articulation with Congress. According to him, the PT member “I always wanted to be on the field”.
“He [Lula] If you stay longer in Brazil, you will be able to receive it more frequently and it is available to the president of the Chamber, the Senate, and the leaders as well. He always wanted to be on the field and for us it’s very good.”said Padilha.
