Thrill in qualifying
Arrives in qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix first mistake of the season by Carlos Sainzalready protagonist in the Sprint race of two heated duels with teammate Charles Leclerc – who had complained about the Spaniard's aggressiveness – and with compatriot Fernando Alonso. In qualifying to determine the starting grid for tomorrow's GP, however, the #55 did everything alone, pinching the gravel exiting the last corner and ending up spinning on the main straight.
SF-24 resistant
Sainz has slammed against the inside wall of the trackdamaging the front wing and remaining stationary for several seconds, before managing to restart his SF-24 and independently return to the pits.
The race direction has waved the red flag following Sainz's exit from the track, paradoxically facilitating the operations of the Ferrari mechanics in attempting to send the Madrilenian back onto the track after replacing his wing. Fortunately, the red from Maranello proved to be resistant and Sainz was able to return to the track regularlysigning the third best time in Q2 and qualifying for Q3.
