Naples, ferry from Capri hits quay: around thirty injured, one in code red

Around 30 people were injured in an accident at the port of Naples, where this morning a ferry hit the quay of the Beverello pier. Several hundred passengers were present on board the Caremar ship “Isola di Procida”, arriving from Capri. At the moment of impact, upon arrival at the port, the passengers were almost all standing and would have fallen due to the violent impact. Those who were taken to hospital suffered maxillofacial trauma, multiple contusions and injuries. Only a 51-year-old man, hospitalized at the Ospedale del Mare, would be in code red. But no one's life would be in danger.

The shipping company told ANSA that the impact was probably due to a technical accident. Currently on board the ship, in addition to the 118 health workers, there are men from the harbor office and the police.

According to the ASL Napoli 1 Centro, the toll is 29 people injured in total. The health company specified that there are still some injured people being assessed.
