Gochi Suda, better known as Suda51, is one of the most interesting live acts that we find in the video game industry today. Although the main series, No More Heroes, is on hiatus for the moment, it will be available this year Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, remastering that Suda51 has compared to Super Mario Bros..
In a recent interview with Destructoid, Suda51 pointed out that there are a couple of similarities between Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered and the beloved Super Mario Bros. series., although this is probably the first time anyone has thought of similarities between these two properties. This is what he commented:
“To put it even more simply, maybe for Nintendo fans, if Garcia is like Mario, then Flemming would be like Bowser. Paula would be like Peach and then Johnson is basically Luigi. Basically, you have the exact same love triangle as Mario. It's more or less exactly the same story. “It's like Super Mario Bros., but in hell.”
Suda51 uses Super Mario Bros. to make clear the type of relationship between the main characters of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, and that's it. It's a pretty funny joke on the director's part, something that makes clear his sense of humor and his passion for video games.
Let us remember that Shadows of the Damned hit the market in 2011, and over the years it has gained a reputation as one of the underrated gems of the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation. Now, with the remaster, Suda51 and Shinji Mikami, who is also involved, hope that more people will have the opportunity to enjoy this fun title.
