The King's Man – The origins: plot, cast and streaming of the film
Tonight, Thursday 18 April 2024, at 9.20 pm on Italia 1, The King's Man – The origins, a 2021 film directed by Matthew Vaughn, will be broadcast. The film is the prequel to the film Kingsman – Secret Service. But let's see all the information together in detail.
Plot
In 1902, during the Boer War, British aristocrat Orlando, Duke of Oxford, his wife Emily and their young son Conrad visit a concentration camp in South Africa, while working for the Red Cross. Emily is killed during a Boer sniper attack on the camp, leading Orlando, a sworn pacifist (albeit a former army officer awarded the Victoria Cross), to determine that the world needs someone to avoid such conflicts before they occur.
Twelve years later, Orlando has recruited two of his minions, Shola and Polly, into his spy network dedicated to protecting the United Kingdom and the British Empire from a possible new global conflict. Faced with the mobilization of the army and the enlistment campaign, Orlando forbids his son Conrad from enlisting, also causing his friend Lord Kitchener, Secretary of State for War, to intervene. Orlando and Conrad join the duke's friend, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, in Sarajevo. Conrad saves the Archduke from a bomb thrown by Gavrilo Princip, a young Serbian who wants to kill the Archduke, but later Princip succeeds in his aim, fatally shooting Ferdinand and his wife Sophie and thus triggering the First World War.
Thanks to his organized network composed mainly of servants of high dignitaries, therefore socially invisible, Orlando discovers that Princip was part of a group whose mission was to pit the German, Russian and British empires against each other. The group, led by a mysterious Shepherd, has its own network of agents, including the Russian mystic Grigory Rasputin, trusted advisor to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. Rasputin, on the Shepherd's orders, manipulates Tsar Nicholas by poisoning his young son and “curing” him only on the condition of the Russian army's withdrawal from the war. Conrad is informed of Rasputin's manipulation by his cousin Feliks Yusupov.
