Maverick lands the hat trick
Suzuki, Yamaha and now Aprilia: Maverick Viñales he is the only rider to have managed to win in MotoGP with three different bikes. A result that gives credit to an extraordinary talent that up to now has been more unexpressed than expressed, but these last few weeks could have finally been the positive sliding door for the 2013 Moto3 champion. Fabio Quartararo has decided to remain in Yamaha for the next two years and 'Aprilia has now seen both riders hit the mark, both Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Vinales.
The latter, however, has something more than his boxing partner – not just a decidedly younger age – and perhaps i “7 kg lost” by winning the Sprint in Portugal they could have delivered Vinales to the Noale company who at the beginning of 2017 on his debut in Yamaha was constantly ahead of Valentino Rossi. The relationship with the Iwata manufacturer came to an abrupt end in 2021 in Austria, when Vinales lost his mind while taking a lap, constantly overrevving the M1's engine.
Yesterday in the post-race interviews when he was a guest of DAZN Spain Vinales did not hold back his tears: “In 2021 after Austria I wanted to retire, but I am someone who never gives up also because I have special people around me who believe in me and who push me every morning to get up and give everything – her words – here I finally reached the top in front of everyone. Many times I have always done something wrong and missed the chance to win, but this time I said 'no'. Victories with three different bikes? One doesn't think about it, but then when one finds oneself faced with realizing this thing it feels special because not many people have succeeded”. Before Vinales in the premier class of the MotoGP, the riders who won with three different bikes were Hailwood (Norton, MV, Honda), Mamola (Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha), Lawson (Yamaha, Honda, Cagiva) and Capirossi (Yamaha, Honda, Ducati).
