Spaniard Maverick Viñales “Aprilia” entered the history of the World Motorcycle Championship, after he became the first rider to win a race with three different manufacturers, since the beginning of the MotoGP era in 2002, by occupying first place in the Grand Prix of the Americas.
Viñales achieved his tenth victory in his career in the first category, and his first victory in more than three years, making his name the first cyclist to win a race with three different manufacturers, namely Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia.
“Thank you guys,” Viñales said. “I felt like everyone was pushing me here in the United States.”
He added: We made history. Thank you, the United States. I am very happy. We need to continue working, and the pace was amazing.
The start of the 29-year-old cyclist, Viñales, from first place was disastrous, as he fell to eleventh place at the first turn, before beginning his gradual climb to win the race held in downtown Austin.
Viñales finished the race with a time of 41:09.503 minutes, 1.728 seconds ahead of his young compatriot Pedro Acosta (Gazgas-Tech3) and 2.703 seconds ahead of Italian Enea Bastianini (Ducati) in a wonderful race that witnessed many fluctuations and the exposure of the Spanish cyclist Marc Marquez (Ducati-Grezini). , a seven-time world champion in MotoGP, suffered a fall while leading.
The Spanish cyclist took revenge for his disappointment in Portugal three weeks ago, when after winning the Sprint race, he was forced to withdraw on the first lap of the Grand Prix due to a gearbox problem while he was in second place.
In Texas, Vinales seemed intangible as he set a record time during one lap in qualifying to start from first place, and won both the speed races and the Grand Prix.
On the other hand, after he climbed to the podium at the Portimão Circuit in Portugal in his second race in the Queen category, Acosta presented an amazing performance in Austin by arriving second, and started in a wonderful way to tighten his grip on the race lead within 3 laps, for the first time in his third race in MotoG. BP, then repeated the overtakes, adopted pressure driving, and forced Marquez to commit a mistake 10 laps before the end.
Marques was panting for his first victory in nearly 900 days, but the Catalan, who succeeded in advancing to first place in the middle of the race, suffered a fall, while Acosta was putting great pressure on him.
“We didn't have anything to lose, I'm happy” with second place, the 19-year-old said with a smile.
For his part, Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac), who leads the riders' standings with 80 points, made a good start and led several laps, but he dropped in the standings to settle for fourth place, and behind him, the defending champion for the past two years, Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who is facing… Tough start.
Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) ranked 12th, while his compatriot Johann Zarco (Honda-LCR) withdrew at the beginning of the race due to a mechanical problem.
