Tragedy in Romagna: one woman 37 year old drowns in the sea in Rimini. The victim, originally from Taranto and resident in Milan, was in Miramare together with her boyfriend. The woman threw herself into the waters of the Adriatic Sea, while her companion of the same age of Tunisian origins remained on the shore. When he saw that he was in difficulty he followed her in an attempt to save her life, but when he brought her body back to shore there was nothing left for her to do.

According to local media reports, the tragedy took place shortly after 10 am on Thursday 11 April. Port Authority and Police said that the 37-year-old woman was on the beach with the fiancé. They were more or less at the height of Bagno 136 in Rimini Miramare.

For reasons yet to be clarified, the woman entered the water, despite the very low sea temperatures in recent days. The woman suddenly disappeared among the waves. The companion began to ask for help, receiving it from the beach workers who are currently working on the beach for the upcoming season. The Tunisian immediately jumped into the sea to try to help her.

When man has brought the woman back to shore, unfortunately there was nothing left for her to do. In the meantime, the Port Authority and the 118 health personnel had arrived on site. The health workers tried to resuscitate her, without success.

The Tunisian, who with difficulty brought her back to shore, was in hypothermia: the sea water temperature is very low in this period. Rescuers moved him to code red in hospital. It wouldn't be life threatening.

The public prosecutor on duty ordered an autopsy on the body of the woman who drowned in front of the Miramare beach.

Subsequently, State Police agents and Flying Squad personnel also intervened for the usual checks.
