The next generation of AMD Ryzen 9000 processors have appeared in a driver update, Zen 5-based CPUs may have a name.
New confirmations are arriving on the possible naming of the next generation of AMD processors: CPUs based on the Zen 5 architecture have emerged from a new driver update with a code that refers to the AMD Ryzen 9000 series.
In recent days the next round of chips from the red house, both for desktops and laptops, have appeared on several occasions, giving us a first idea of what AMD's lineup could be. Here's what we know.
Is AMD Ryzen 9000 the official name?
The new information on the next generation of AMD processors was discovered by HXL in the latest version of the AMD Chipset Drivers uploaded by ASUS: version 6.03.19.217 is quite similar to the previous 6.02.07.2300 but introduces support for a new chip series called “MPMF-9000”code that should match the AMD Ryzen 9000 line.
Drivers for AMD chipsets include desktop and laptop processors and it is therefore difficult to make a precise distinction between the various products. The new chips of the “9000 series” based on Zen 5 will most likely include the Granite Ridge range for desktops which will be compatible with the AM5 platform.
The new range coming soon
Motherboard manufacturers are already working on supporting Zen 5 processors, as reflected in ASUS' BIOS updates. The range of AMD CPUs based on the new architecture will bring various series, including the Ryzen 9000X and for the next version of Steam Deck) and then all the chips for the professional segments.
Once again, Computex 2024 could be the ideal stage for the presentation of some of the new AMD processors.
