According to the latest tip launched by Tom Henderson on the Insider Gaming portal, the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake would be started from scratchwith the game now reportedly still in an immature state and therefore far from publication.
Announced in 2020, the remake of the popular action adventure was initially planned to be released at the beginning of the following year, but Ubisoft subsequently postponed the launch several times and at the moment the title still does not have a definitive launch window. Meanwhile, in May 2022 the reins of the project passed from Ubisoft Pune to Ubisoft Montreal.
Well the advice from Tom Henderson's sources is to forget what we have seen so far (very little in reality) of the remake, given that the new team that took charge of the project, despite the initial intention to continue development on the basis of what has already been done previously, has finally decided to starting the work practically from scratch.
Furthermore, according to a video sent to the Insider Gaming editorial team, the game it is still in an embryonic stage, so much so that in the build viewed textures, assets and other basic elements were absent. For obvious reasons, this also means the release could be much further away than expected.
The changes made to the new remake
The new version of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has also been made “with a more realistic approach”, according to a Henderson source. Looking at the glass half full, with the restart of the project it was the graphics section has been reworked, new animations and mechanics related to combat and parkour and more have been created. The same goes for the script and mocap, which were redone from scratch.
One of the changes that might make longtime fans turn up their noses is that Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor of the Prince in both the original game and the first trailer for the remake, will no longer play this role. The reasons behind this change and who will replace him are currently unclear.
Some Insider Gaming sources say that Ubisoft may offer some updates soon official on the progress of the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The thought in this sense goes to the Ubisoft Forward scheduled for June 10th. We'll see.
