Tunisian security units were able to dismantle a network specialized in smuggling illegal immigrants of sub-Saharan African nationalities.
The General Administration of the Tunisian Guard explained in a statement yesterday that 10 individuals from this network, which is active between various border governorates of Tunisia, were arrested, and 9 private cars used to transport migrants were confiscated, noting that legal measures had been taken regarding those arrested.
The Tunisian Naval Guard also announced the thwarting of 31 illegal immigration operations, starting from the southern coast of the country towards the opposite bank of the Mediterranean, as a result of which 1,335 immigrants of sub-Saharan African nationalities were arrested.
He explained in a statement yesterday that during the operation, a number of iron boats, engines, and quantities of fuel were seized, noting that all those arrested were referred to the judicial authorities to take legal measures in their regard.
