Juan Carlos Osorio was part of a very successful stage for Atlético Nacional. He arrived at the club in mid-2012 and achieved a three-time League championship, unprecedented up to that point in short tournaments (2013-I, 2013-II and 2014-I).
Osorio also won a Super League (2012) and two Colombia Cups (2012 and 2013) and reached the final of the Copa Sudamericana in 2014, which he lost against River Plate.
After leaving for Sao Paulo in Brazil, Nacional maintained the foundations of its work and reinforced them with the arrival of another highly experienced coach, Reinaldo Rueda, with whom it won its second Copa Libertadores (2016), reaching a new final of the Copa Sudamericana, which could not be played due to the Chapecoense tragedy (2016) and won two other Leagues (2015-II and 2017-I), a Colombia Cup (2016) and a Super League (2016).
Osorio returned to Nacional in 2019, but his second stage was far from being as successful as the first. He did not win any titles and left office in October 2020, after a streak of poor results.
When the Risraldense returned to the club, the leadership had changed. Today, Nacional's managers receive serious questions from the fans and the team went through very bad times: they were left out of the Copa Libertadores after losing at home by a landslide against Nacional of Paraguay and in the League they came to be last just a couple of weeks ago , although three victories in a row put him back in the fight for classification.
This is how Osorio analyzes the situation of Nacional
Osorio gave an interview to the Telemedellín program Cambio de Frente, in which he referred to the team's bad moment. “I have mixed feelings, it is a club that I am very grateful to. Not to go into details, there are many people making the same decision. And in any company, there have to be people who are responsible for whether the company is successful or not,” said the DT.
Referring to the director of the program, David Gutiérrez, Osorio said: “I sense that you are the anchorman of the program, David. The one who specializes in soccer is you. If this doesn't work, if the questions don't come out, we can't say that it was the cameraman who didn't know how to ask the questions. No, that is your decision,” he added.
< p>“There is too much money and there is a lot of room for energy to go to one side or the other, but true relationships are two, not four, five or six,” he added.
Osorio did not rule out directing again in Colombia and assured that he has an offer from a club in the country. “The one here interests me, because, at the end of all, I am Colombian, I love this country and my people. “I think I have a lot to contribute to the game,” he insisted.
