The four pilot projects that the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Employment, through the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF), launched last year so that long-term unemployed people over 45 years of age could find work concluded with a figure of labor insertion of 55.17 percent. Specifically, 96 of the 174 unemployed people who completed one of these programs found work.
These initiatives were designed with the collaboration of companies, NGOs and experts in the field of employment and social services, to offer their participants intensive and individualized training and career guidance, as well as support, for six months, to help them access a job.
The general director of the SEF, Marisa López, explained that “the key to these projects lies in putting people at the center, enhancing their skills and motivating them in their search for employment. “This is a group in which age is a handicap in accessing the job market, which is why they need more intense and personalized attention.”
The 174 participants, 67 men and 107 women, received personalized and individualized attention in the 'LTU Sustainable Employment' pilot projects, which were launched in Murcia and Cartagena, and were developed by Acción contra el Hambre, Fundación Salud y Comunidad, Asociación Albores and the Spanish Red Cross.
Each participant followed a personalized job search itinerary adapted to their profile, which took into account their skills, competencies, training and experience, as well as their possibilities of accessing the labor market. Aspects such as the active search for employment, entrepreneurship or the labor market were also worked on in groups. The courses included training for employment in specialties from different professional sectors.
This initiative is added to the training and job placement programs for specific groups that the SEF develops within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with Next Generation European funds, for groups with special difficulty in accessing employment such as young people, the elderly over 45 years old and people at risk of social exclusion, among others.
