The Muslim Council of Elders, headed by His Eminence the Grand Imam Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, affirmed that the wise vision and humanitarian principles of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” embodied the tolerant message of Islam aimed at upholding the values of tolerance and giving, and spreading the culture of goodness. And cooperation between people, noting that the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed left unforgettable imprints on the path of humanitarian work around the world.
His Excellency Counselor Mohammed Abdel Salam, Secretary-General of the Council of Muslim Elders, said that Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which falls on Ramadan 19 of each year, represents a great anniversary to celebrate and remind of the values of tolerance, cooperation and solidarity, spreading the culture of giving among members of society, and consolidating the principles of humanitarian work as a basic pillar. To build more just and peaceful societies, and to recall the efforts of Sheikh Zayed, whose white hands and charitable works extended to every corner of the world, making his humanitarian legacy to serve all of humanity an inspiring approach for current and future generations, and a unique model to be emulated in charitable work.
He explained that the UAE, with the support and care of its wise leadership, has followed this pioneering approach, making it a beacon of hope for volunteer and charitable work globally, supporting the needy and the poor and spreading the values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and human brotherhood among peoples and nations.
