Preparing for Melbourne
Before packing your bags to get on the plane that will take the official drivers to Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix, the Mclaren decided to stop in Imola for two days of testing. Between yesterday and today, Norris and Piastri regularly took to the track at the wheel of the MCL36 (the single-seater of the 2022 season), but not only that.
Hirakawa is also on track
The last Saudi Arabian Grand Prix saw the replacement of Carlos Sainz in Ferrari with reserve driver Oliver Bearman, who then put in an excellent performance. On the subject of 'third driver', he also completed a few laps in Imola Ryo Hirakawaa 30-year-old Japanese man chosen by McLaren last year as reserve driver for this championship.
Career results
Two-time WEC world champion with Toyota in 2022 and 2023 (the team with which he also faces this season of the Endurance championship), Hirakawa also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2022 again with Brendon Hartley and a former F1 driver like Sebastien Buemi. He had also previously achieved success at home, winning in Japanese F3 and Porsche Carrera Cup Japan.
