Intel better than AMD and Apple combined: 50 million CPUs shipped in a single quarter

A recent report from Canalys brought to light data on the global CPU market for desktop and notebook PCs for the fourth quarter of 2023, highlighting many interesting data among which stand out the processor units distributed by various manufacturers such as Intel, AMD and Apple, as well as the most active regions from this point of view.
Intel appears to be emerging as the strongest player on the marketlet's discover some numbers together.

Better than AMD and Apple combined

According to the data revealed by the report, in the last quarter of last year Intel has reached 50 million units distributed worldwide, across desktop and laptop CPUs, growing 3% year-on-year.
AMD placed second in this ranking with 8 million units distributed, approximately -1% compared to the previous year, with Apple bringing up the rear on threshold of 6 million units distributed, -4% compared to 2022.

On the turnover front, things change slightly: Intel still takes the lion's share with 41 billion dollars and an improvement of 2%, Apple follows with 8 billion and an 8% growth and AMD completes the picture with 5 billion of turnover and an improvement of 6% on an annual basis. The analysis also brings into play other manufacturers such as Qualcomm, MediaTek and ARM, still distant from the three main giants.

What are the main suppliers?

As for the main partners in the desktop segment, Intel's first is Lenovo with 25% of total distribution, HP stops at 23%, Dell at 19%, ACER at 7% and ASUS at 6%.
Lenovo also remains in first place with AMD with 40% of total demand, followed by HP with 29%, ASUS with 14% and ACER at 6%.
Finally, the notebook segment remains in command with 69% of demandwhile the remaining 31% goes to desktop PCs.
During 2024, Intel is planning the arrival of the new processors in the Lunar Lake range which could consolidate the position of the American giant.
