Thomas Mahler, CEO of Moon Studiosis no stranger to statements that can inflame the discussion on video games, and even in this case he did his part in reporting, apparently, that playing Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Game Pass doesn't help developerscausing the obvious console war chaos.
In fact, it all started with a message in which Mahler thanks users for their support of Moon Studios, probably following the presentation of No Rest for the Wicked, the new game in development by the team, recommending everyone to support the team by purchasing the two chapters of Ori on Steam.
At this point someone asked why not also indicate the Xbox Store as a purchasing channel, to which Mahler responded by saying “Because people then get it through Game Pass and that doesn't help Moon Studios”. This started numerous comments which largely resulted in console warwhich the CEO of Moon Studios himself tried to remedy by then defending Microsoft.
Moon Studios has partially corrected the issue
Beyond the fact that the two Golds can still be purchased on Xbox, despite their presence on Game Pass, Mahler probably intends to refer to the fact that the team has already obtained the agreed compensation for the inclusion of the games in the service's catalog on subscription, so if you want to support it now it is preferable purchase the game in a standard way.
Seeing the trend of the comments, Mahler then corrected his aim a bit, replying to a user who said it would be stupid to want to see Microsoft exit the videogame market because this would lead to a general worsening of the situation and also specifying that Moon Studios would not have existed without Microsoft and not even indie console games in general.
