As a result of the agreement reached whereby the Yuzu emulator will be shut down and the Tropic Haze company will pay a compensation to Nintendothe news also arrives closing the Citra emulatorfocused on Nintendo 3DS.
As we have seen, after the lawsuit threatened by Nintendo, the Tropic Haze team found itself in need negotiate to avoid running into a battle that is decidedly difficult to win and in any case extremely expensive.
The agreement provides for the closure of Yuzu, Nintendo Switch emulator, and also the payment of a compensation of 2.4 million dollars towards Nintendo, but as another consequence there is also the closure of the Citra emulator, focused on Nintendo 3DS.
Citra has also been removed
If before the question may not have been clear, now it is definitely so: if we focus on what was the official site dedicated to the Citra project, you are greeted by a message informing you of the total closure of the project.
In essence, it is a communication corresponding to the one published previously by bunnei, one of the main managers of the projects linked to Yuzu and Citra, on the official Discord of the Nintendo Switch emulator, but in this case reported in a public manner.
The message explains that the team has always been against piracy and that the projects were started in “good faith”, driven by the passion for Nintendo and its consoles and without the intention of causing damage to the company, however in some way they ended up creating it, above all for having broken some protection measures placed by Nintendo on their consoles.
As a consequence, Citra, one of the best-known Nintendo 3DS emulators, also launched in 2014has been officially shut down by the developers.
