Justice has disappeared, stated President Andrés Manuel López Obrador when referring to the case of judge Juan Manuel Martínez Vitelawho acquitted the alleged sexual attacker of a minor in the Mexico state.
The Chief Executive endorsed exhibiting cases like this one, after the judge complained about the dissemination of the resolution on social networks, and stressed that this is why it is important reform of the Judiciary.
“This has to be made public,” the president added in his morning press conference at the National Palace. “Yes, file a complaint. Of course, if it is a problem that affects society as a whole.”
“It is important to continue addressing the issue, because it is like an environment, it is a practice that has taken root and this has to lead to a profound reform, which even takes into account law school study plans,” he pointed out.
Last week, President López Obrador criticized Judge Juan Manuel Martínez for acquitting the charges and ordering the release of the alleged sexual attacker of a four-year-old girl in the State of Mexico.
The president said that this case demonstrates the mentality of the members of the Judiciary.
López Obrador pointed out that he has always maintained that the Judiciary requires a clear renovation, “it is wrong and it is a structural problem,” he warned.
It is a problem that has to do with the curricula, with the training of lawyers, because with the neoliberal model everything had been individualized, social guarantees, or social rights, had practically disappeared,” he explained.
“As constitutional law disappeared, agrarian law, labor law, and everything was oriented towards commercial and criminal matters, justice disappeared.”
It is a paradox that justice was not administered in the JudiciaryLópez Obrador asserted, a contradiction, that is why I say that they cannot call it the Supreme Court of Justice, if anything, and not in general, it would be the supreme court of law, because in many cases it is the supreme court of crookedness.
Now they want to remove preventive detentionThe ministers suddenly turned out to be internationalists, the president asserted, and they say, although it is in the Constitution, in the resolutions of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the OAS it says that it should not exist.
And since Mexico has established international agreements, our Constitution is in the trash, López Obrador reproached.
