“Are you tasting something strange?” you hear as you try to keep a straight face. That disgusting cupcake your colleague just gave you contains no sugar at all, but beetroot. Reason for dismissal, as far as we are concerned. Some things are simply indispensable. Take a windshield wiper on a hatchback. Hyundai left out the rear windshield wiper on the Ioniq 5, but they have now reversed that. In addition, the EV will have a larger battery, an extra button and a sportier version.
It often happens that car manufacturers throw up a test balloon, but quickly find out that it was already good. For example, the Golf 5 initially had no antenna on the roof, but after three years there was suddenly a blade on the back. Apparently the reception was not entirely cheerful. Hyundai told MotorTrend that they left out the windshield wiper because it looked better and for aerodynamics, but this does not outweigh the disadvantages.
Apparently the brand received complaints about the lack of the windshield wiper. The wiper already appeared on the rear window on the fast Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and with the facelift the arm is also on all normal versions. To improve aerodynamics (or to compensate for the wiper?) the rear spoiler has now been extended by 50 millimeters. More aerodynamic wheels have also been added.
Larger battery in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift
To improve the range, the battery grows by 6.6 kWh to 86 kWh. The brand has not yet revealed what the new range will be. The bumpers at the front and rear have been slightly pointed to give the car more of an SUV look. Inside, a 'favorites' button has been added that you can program yourself and the wireless phone charger has now been placed higher.
Furthermore, some small details have been added. For example, the window pillar in the middle has been strengthened, the shock absorbers have been adjusted and the software of the infotainment system has been updated. In addition, the air conditioning controls have been arranged slightly differently and a zipper has been added to safety systems and driving assistants.
You can order the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift as an 'N Line'. This is a version that looks sportier, but is not faster. The N Line wears sportier bumpers and 20-inch wheels. Inside you get a sports steering wheel, sports seats, dark headliner and red stitching. It is not yet known when the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 and its windshield wiper will come to the Netherlands. Deliveries are already starting in Korea.
