Can you imagine being inside a movie? With your protagonist, at his house, his school, the park and living all his moments of greatest adrenaline? Well, this is already a reality in our country, whose experience can be lived in 'Pirates in Callao: the return of L'Hermite', the film by Eduardo Schuldt that announces its premiere in none other than the Real Felipe Fortress in Callao. The story is a sequel to the one he began directing in 2003 and which introduces us to Alberto, a Peruvian boy who goes on a school trip to Real Felipe and during the trip, gets lost and enters a portal that sends him to the 17th century. There he will have to fight against a group of Dutch pirates led by the pirate Jacques L'Hermite..
“Attendees will have a totally immersive experience and will accompany their protagonists in all their adventures, they will live them firsthand. When I created this concept I wanted to fulfill a dream which was to be on the screen and that is what we have tried to doOf course, at the end of the day the public will say if it has been achieved. So far the response has been very positive. The attendees stop being spectators and become inside the screen. And having this premiere at the Real Felipe in Callao, where the story of this film takes place, is something incredible. The public who wants to see it can do so with an extra payment (9.90 soles) at the entrance to visit the fortress and I am sure they will enjoy it from start to finish.“, the filmmaker told La República.

The film that will be projected within the normal hours of said tourist place in the first port (from Tuesday to Sunday) is cataloged under the concept of Adventure Cinema. “It is a mix between cinema and high-end virtual reality that generates completely new sensations, from feeling like you are in the middle of a battle. Imagine watching a battle like you see in the movies and suddenly a weapon appears in your hands with which you can join the good guys and fight.. You could also be in a mysterious museum and, like the protagonists, you have a flashlight to help them reveal a secret. Or that, within the film, you are responsible for piloting a spaceship and taking the heroes safely to their destination,” he explains.
Schuldt mentions that “this has nothing to do with 3D, 4D, 5D, 8D or 9D, which is what they call it every time they add a new effect, whether it's called bubbles or the seat moves.” “This is totally different. Furthermore, it is a cinematographic language if you can call it that, totally different. Here there is no medium shot, a bust shot or a long shot. It is as if you were going to a play and you You place yourself in the middle of this work and you are living the story together with the protagonists. Obviously, being digital you're not in a theater, you're in the middle of an epic battle, you're running on rails, falling into abysses or fighting.”

The director of films such as 'Condorito', 'Los ilusionautas', 'A Giant Adventure', 'Miracles: An Extraordinary Bear', among others, he remembers that “he had always wanted a second part of 'Pirates in Callao'. We made it almost 20 years ago, we were 11 people in a garage and with a very limited budget. I liked the idea of this time travel that works well with virtual reality. It has never left my mind since I started directing it in 2003. It is something I always wanted to return to and, furthermore, the Real Felipe is wonderful and exists and I say this because there are people who saw the film and think that it does not exist. exists”.
By 2024, he commented that they must have four stories with this same innovative technology. “We are already in pre-production on the second one. It will be called 'Mystery in the Museum' and the third, a horror film. What is also coming is to open a new location in San Isidro in a month and a half. The idea is to be able to have 20 venues of this type in the next two years,” he said, referring to small projection rooms.
