Hundreds of people paid tribute this Thursday to Kelvin Kiptum Kenyan marathon world record holder who died in a car accident eleven days ago, in a funeral procession through the streets of Eldoret, in which something incredible happened.
Between songs or in silence, the coffin surrounded by flowers of the great hope of Kenyan athletics circulated in a hearse along the roads of the town.

Sadness
Kiptum's coffin headed to Iten, a town near Eldoret and a famous training center for long-distance and middle-distance runners.
Rising star of world athletics, Kelvin Kiptum, who died at the age of 24, will be buried on Friday in a state funeral, in the presence of the president William Ruto. These will take place in Chepsamo, town in the valley rift where the athlete and his family resided.
Protest
The international media pointed to unusual information, in the middle of the athlete's wake.
“A Kenyan court refused to stop the burial of Kenyan athlete Kelvin Kiptum, world marathon record holder, scheduled for this Friday, following a lawsuit filed by a 22-year-old woman who claims to have the athlete's daughter, according to court documents,” said Brand of Spain.
And he added: “The High Court of Eldoret (west) rejected the request of Edna Owuor, 22, who claims to have a daughter of one year and seven months whose biological father is Kiptum. “The plaintiff requested a temporary court order to stop the burial of the athlete, who died on the 11th in a traffic accident in Kenya, in order to extract DNA samples from the body to prove paternity.”
Marca said the judge Robert Wananda He argued that “the organization of the burial of the deceased is in an advanced phase and, therefore, stopping the burial may be disturbing considering the resources invested.” The woman seeks to be recognized, along with her daughter, as a beneficiary of the athlete's will, who – according to her – supported the girl financially before her death.
