The Superbike tests at Phillip Island kick off the race week of the Australian round, the opening event of the season. However, the test program is disrupted by the political events concerning the Suez Canal: for this reason the SBK tests will not take place on Monday and Tuesday, as initially scheduled, but only on the last day.
In fact, a note released by Dorna explained that the Pirelli crates remained blocked at the entrance to the Canal and that, to arrive in time, they will be transported by air. For logistical reasons, the boxes are shipped in December, but, while a first part has already arrived at its destination, a second tranche has remained stagnant. The Supersport will thus be able to carry out tests on Monday, while the Superbike will only take to the track on Tuesday.
As learned from GPOne colleagues, the first crate left in December while the second began its journey in January. The trip turned out to be quite troubled, so much so that we had to change plans at the last minute. In any case, the tests will take place regularly on Monday with the intermediate class of the production derivatives and on Tuesday with the premier class.
Phillip Island will be the scene not only of the tests, which will end when it is morning in Italy, but also of the first round of the season, which will give us the first answers after a winter full of confirmations but also surprises.
