Election in the USA will be in November; Russian leader says current US president is “more experienced and predictable”
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, said on Wednesday (14.Feb.2024) that he prefers Joe Biden The donald trump at the White House. In November, Americans elect who will lead the country for the next few years. The information is from Financial Times.
In a televised interview, Putin was asked what would be the best option for Russia: a victory for the Democrats or the Republicans. The Russian leader responded: “Biden. He is a more experienced and predictable person, an old school politician”. And he added: “But we will work with any U.S. president who earns the trust of Americans”.
Putin downplayed the questions about health and age of Biden, 81 years old. He cited a meeting with the North American in Geneva (Switzerland) in 2021. “They were already saying that Biden was not competent (…), but I didn't see any of that. Yes, he looked at his notes and, to be honest, I looked at mine. Nothing else”, he stated.
Despite claiming to prefer Biden, Putin said that US policy towards Russia is “harmful and misguided”.
Research carried out by Reuters/Ipsos and released on Tuesday (13.Feb) shows that Trump has 37% of voting intentions. Biden has 34%. Despite the former US president appearing numerically ahead of the current US leader, the 2 candidates are technically tied within the poll's margin of error, which is 2.9 percentage points.
The survey interviewed 1,237 North American adults for 4 days across the country via the internet until Monday (Feb 12). The result represents a tight margin for the electoral dispute, which is scheduled for November 5th this year.
The former president's candidacy has not yet been formalized by the Republican Party. Trump disputes election caucuses with Nikki Haley. She was US ambassador to UN (United Nations) during the Trump administration (from 2017 to 2018) and governor of the State of South Carolina (from 2011 to 2017).
Likewise, Biden has also not been declared an official candidate for the Democratic Party, although the tendency is for him to run for re-election.
