What happened?

Police carried out a large operation on Wednesday, February 14, in the areas of Merirauma and Syvärauma.

Two reporters from Satakunta Kansa Länsi-Suomen followed the events on the spot and spoke to, among other things, several eyewitnesses who saw with their own eyes the figure who shot in the trench, the arrest of the suspect and the police raiding the apartment buildings.

According to witnesses, the policemen had at least a police dog, a chainsaw and an assault shield with them. They described that there were a lot of policemen there.

According to the residents of the area, the police started to leave the place on Wednesday evening. On Thursday morning, the police were no longer visible.

What did the police say?

The police have confirmed the course of events so far that shots were fired in the area, one suspect has been arrested, another has been searched for, a weapon has been found and a deceased person has been found in one of the apartments.

On Wednesday, the Southwestern Finland police announced that the police have one person suspected of a crime and arrested. In addition, the police have confiscated one firearm. The questioning of the suspect has begun.

According to the police, it is now safe to move around the area and the city.

The crimes in the case are aggravated firearm offense and murder.

The head of the investigation of the case is the crime commissioner Kimmo Lindholm.

Lindholm heads the investigation team specializing in organized crime and drug crime in the Satakunta region.

Lindholm commented on Thursday shortly before ten o'clock that the police are going to publish a press release related to the preliminary investigation later on Thursday, and the head of the investigation is not answering questions at all at this stage.
