Remains of Obed Beltrán, a Mexican killed in a shooting in the New York Subway, will return to their homeland with his family in Mexico

The Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE) has committed to coordinating the transfer of the mortal remains of Obed Beltrán Sáncheza 35-year-old migrant from Puebla who was fatally wounded in the middle of a shooting in a subway station in Bronx County, New York.

The tragic news was confirmed by the governor of Puebla, Sergio Salomón Céspedes, who revealed that he had a conversation with the consul general of Mexico in New York, Jorge Islas López, to guarantee a quick return of the remains to their place of origin.

What was the shooting like where Obed Beltran Sánchez died?

The unfortunate event occurred on February 12 when Obed Beltrán Sánchez, construction worker and resident in the United States for more than a yearwas at the Mount Eden metro station.

In the middle of a gang confrontation, Beltrán was caught in the crossfirebeing seriously injured and later dying in a New York hospital, where he was receiving medical attention.
