Former president would testify about “importunity” with the whale on February 7; act is organized by supporters
The former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said this Tuesday (6.Feb.2024) that it will maintain its “commitment” with his supporters in São Sebastião (SP) and meet them at the moment when his statement would be made for harassing a humpback whale. Previously scheduled for the 4th (Feb 7), the hearing of the former Chief Executive regarding harassment of a humpback whale off the coast of São Paulo was postponed until February 27.
“You know that the PF had scheduled my testimony in this city for tomorrow, the 7th, at 3 pm, I don’t know why they decided to postpone it, including [remarcaram] to another place. But, as many people had already expressed that they would like to come and see me and have a chat, I decided to keep that commitment”, it says Bolsonaro in a video posted on his social networks.

UNDERSTAND THE CASE
The Federal Police subpoenaed the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to testify about an alleged “intentional harassment” to a whale during a jet ski ride in São Sebastião, on the north coast of São Paulo, on June 16 and 17, 2023.
Videos that circulated on social media in June 2023 show a person on a jet ski near a whale on the coast of São Paulo. The request of Ibama (Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Resources) on November 17, 2023, the Federal Public Ministry informed that it would monitor the PF police investigation.
The former president is suspected of being the driver of the watercraft. According to the case's prosecutor, Marília Soares, the jet ski “with the engine running it reached approximately 15 meters” of the animal that was on the surface.
