The Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci signed the decree it contains the names that will make up the new Scientific and Economic Commission (CSE) of the drug which will replace the Technical-Scientific Commission (CTS) and the Prices and Reimbursement Committee (CPR) of the Italian Medicines Agency. A fundamental piece of the new AIFA reform that is taking shape.
The AIFA scientific and economic drug commission will be composed as follows: Lara Nicoletta Angela Gitto, designated by the Minister of Health, with the role of president; Giancarlo Agnelli, designated by the Minister of Health; Walter Marrocco, designated by the Minister of Health; Vincenzo Danilo Lozupone, designated by the Minister of Health; Ida Fortino, designated by the Minister of Economy and Finance; Elisa Sangiorgi, Emilia-Romagna Region, designated by the Permanent Conference for relations between the State, the regions and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano; Giuseppe Toffoli, Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, designated by the Permanent Conference for relations between the State, the regions and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano; Giovanna Scroccaro, Veneto Region, designated by the Permanent Conference for relations between the State, the regions and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano.
“The technical-scientific director of Aifa and the president of the Higher Institute of Health or his delegate are ex-officio members of the Commission – specifies the decree – The non-exit members of the Aifa scientific and economic drug Commission last in tenure of three years and are renewable consecutively for only one time. Each non-statutory member is entitled to a gross annual allowance of €25,000”.

– Lara Nicoletta Angela Gitto, designated by the Minister of Health, with the functions of president. Gitto (50 years old), with a degree in Law from the University of Messina and a master's degree in Health Economics, is an associate professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Messina.
– Giancarlo Agnelli (72 years old), designated by the Minister of Health, is full professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Perugia and has active clinical studies on the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
– Walter Marrocco (68 years old), designated by the Minister of Health, former member (from 2007 to 2012 and 2013 to 2015) of the Aifa CTS, is a medicines expert of the Italian Federation of Family Doctors.
– Vincenzo Danilo Lozupone, designated by the Minister of Health, owner of a pharmacy in Bari.
– Ida Fortino (52 years old), designated by the Minister of Economy and Finance, former director of the AIFA pharmaceutical strategy and economics area, is director of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Organizational Unit of the Lombardy Region.
– Elisa Sangiorgi (49 years old) – Emilia-Romagna Region – designated by the State-Regions Conference, she is manager of the drug and medical device governance area of the hospital care sector of the General Directorate of personal care, health and welfare of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
– Giuseppe Toffoli – Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region – designated by the State-Regions Conference, former director of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology of the Oncology Reference Center of Aviano. Toffoli, graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Medical Oncology and Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Padua, is responsible for numerous research projects which have been awarded and financed by national public bodies, European bodies and non-profit associations.
– Giovanna Scroccaro (65 years old) – Veneto Region – designated by the State-Regions Conference, already responsible for the Pharmaceutical, Prosthetics and Medical Devices direction of the Veneto Region. You have already had experience in Aifa, in 2019 you were appointed president of the Agency's Prices and Reimbursement Committee.
