The goal is serenity
In 2022 Ducati announced the renewal with Francesco Bagnaia before the start of the season precisely to remove the market worm from the Chivasso rider's 'head' and despite an extremely disappointing start to the season, at the end of 2022 the world title arrived for Pecco, confirmed as king of the MotoGP also in 2023.
The VR46 riders academy rider is in contract expiry at the end of 2024 and the Ducati leaders have a clear idea of what to do this year too, replicating what happened two years ago: “The priority is to renew Francesco Bagnai's contractbefore Qatar to be able to concentrate exclusively on winning the world title”, declared the General Director of Ducati Corse Luigi Dall'Igna interviewed by The Corriere dello Sport. The Venetian coach added to the official MotoGP website that it is never easy to close a contract with a two-time world champion, but in Borgo Panigale there is optimism about the outcome of the negotiation with Bagnaia.
“We have already started discussing with Bagnaia's manager and entourage and we are confident that we can reach the renewal before Qatar”, added the team manager Davide Tardozzi. Priority to Bagnaia therefore, then it will be to establish who his teammate will be in 2025. Enea Bastianini, Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi are the main candidates with Dall'Igna who has already taken into account losing someone: “There isn't room for everyone and it's normal for everyone to aspire to an official rider's saddle”. Jorge Martin is Honda's great objective for the great relaunch starting from 2025 by taking advantage of the 'springboard' of concessions in 2024.
