The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and its partners in the “Vocational and Practical Training Program” for national students have exceeded the targets of the pilot phase of the program for the year 2023, by providing more than 3,400 training opportunities for students at more than 500 entities. The target was to create training opportunities for 350 entities.
1,780 male and female students have enrolled in the program since the launch of its pilot phase in September last year, and this phase continues until the end of the 2023-2024 academic year, to begin its final implementation phase over a period of five years, with the aim of supporting the enrollment of Emirati students into the skilled workforce in the private sector, by providing them with The necessary practical experience during the various stages of study, through several tracks of the program, is provided to students from the ninth grade until the final year of higher education.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation is the general coordinator of the program, in cooperation with its partners in the Ministry of Education, the Emirates Foundation for School Education, the Higher Colleges of Technology, the Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and the Applied Technology High School, with the support of the Emirates Competitiveness Council (NAFES).
Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation for National Human Resources Development, Ahmed Al Nasser, said that qualifying and training national cadres and enhancing their competitiveness in the labor market is an ongoing work of the Ministry in cooperation with its partners, by launching pioneering initiatives in the field of training, qualification and integration of citizens into private sector jobs since The early stages of life, while they are in school, is the stage in which their visions are formed, and in which they realize their true orientations and inclinations, and this is within the responsibility of the Ministry and its direction to increase the participation of citizens and their real contribution to the labor market, and its role in the success of the state’s national trends and vision for the next economic stage, the basis of which is Its main pillar is the citizen-cadre president.
He explained that the vocational and practical training program for students comes as a continuation of the achievements made in the field of nationalization in the labor market, and the great boom achieved during the last stage, through the proliferation of generations trained and ready to integrate into the economic stage, which achieves excellence and competitiveness for them in any field or sector of the labor market. Pointing out the extensive achievements achieved during the experimental phase, and the interest that accompanied the work from students, educational bodies, or supervisory bodies.
The program seeks to achieve three basic goals, the most important of which is enhancing the process of developing professional skills among Emirati youth in line with the goals of economic diversification and priority sectors in the UAE, in addition to building a strong work ethics system among Emirati youth, and encouraging consideration of private sector jobs since An early age, in addition to the program’s goals of strengthening ties between Emirati students and private sector companies.
