The new Fiat Panda takes shape. Some patents are appearing online that could anticipate the shapes of the new generation of the city car from the Italian Stellantis brand. There is still no certainty that it is the new Panda but from the first glance you can notice some similarities with the new Citroen e-C3, with which the best seller of the Turin brand will share several elements starting from the Smart Car platform.
A Pandona
From a stylistic point of view, there are several differences compared to the past and what could be reminiscences of the much discussed Centoventi concept are also missing. In the latter case, however, there are some small stylistic features and to support the thesis of the new Fiat Panda there would also be the change in type of car, now a small crossover which for a certain period will support the current generation only to then completely replace it in the future . By carefully observing these sketches, however, you can also find other references to the world of the Panda: such as the “squircle” rear lights, the square with rounded corners which also characterize the current generation. For example, the front light clusters with the thin LED strip are taken from the Centoventi. On the very large side, however, we find some protections that were part of the Panda's heritage.
Batteries and engine of new Fiat Panda
Beyond the design and shapes, however, the new Fiat Panda will bring with it various innovations. The first big news will be production, with the Pomigliano d'Arco lines which will continue to deal with the current generation of Fiat Panda but which will not host (at least for the moment) those of the new generation which will instead be born in Serbia, in Kragujevac. The new generation Fiat Panda will share the architecture with the new Citroen e-C3, i.e. the Smart Car platform, a variation of the CMP, which has so far been used in India and South America. This platform will allow production costs to be lowered and will integrate the new LFP, Lithium-Iron-Phosphate batteries. The price list should remain under 25,000 euros, with a range close to 300 km on a single charge. The electric version should be fitted with a 44 kWh battery and a 113 HP engine while the endothermic variant will have a 1.2 turbo petrol engine probably electrified with mild-hybrid technology. The debut of the new Fiat Panda should take place on July 11th, on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the Turin brand.
