Forget Alfa Romeo, Stake F1 Team is here with a brand new car.
Let's face it: F1 livery reveals aren't usually very exciting, even though the teams try to create as much hype as possible. The Ferrari is simply red every year and the Red Bull is dark blue every year with a Red Bull logo. The revelation of Sauber Stake F1 Team, however, is a little more interesting, because they get a completely new look.
After we saw the new Williams earlier today, Sauber is now pulling the curtain on the C44. It looks very different from the C43, because the red of Alfa Romeo has made way for bright green. This means you won't overlook Bottas and Zhou this season.
The news is not just about the color scheme: according to Stake F1 Team, the car itself is also very different – it still takes some getting used to. The C44 is equipped with new sidepods, a new cover for the engine and a new floor. Additionally, they switched from a push rod suspension to a pull rod suspension.
The team hopes to make a leap forward with this. That is necessary, because Alfa Romeo Sauber finished second to last in the championship last year, with 16 points. We will see in just under a month whether the aerodynamic and mechanical changes pay off in Bahrain.
