According to a new rumor, Microsoft is seriously considering no longer launching i Xbox games directly into the Game Pass. This was stated by the SneakersSO insider on the Resetera forum, who did not provide many details on the matter, but who is considered very reliable given that he has a rich portfolio of rumors which later turned out to be true.
We are talking about the same one who revealed in advance that Indiana Jones and the ancient Circle would be in first person and that Troy Baker would be among the voice actors. He had also anticipated the news of Starfield on PS5, still not confirmed but strengthened by many other sources. In short, for now nothing is certain, but certainly many Game Pass subscribers will not be happy with this new hypothesis, also because it would be a radical change of direction compared to what Xbox has professed so far for its service, which would still mark more the transformation of the platform's editorial policies.
Costs too high?
In addition to reporting the indiscretion, SneakersSO also made its own observation, stating: “It seems that give away games is really too expensive.”
In fact, if the news turns out to be true, it would be a real earthquake at Xbox. Furthermore, such a move would somehow end up proving Sony right, in particular Jim Ryan when he stated that launching games immediately on subscription services is not sustainable, particularly in the triple-A sector.
However, everything remains to be seen and for now there is really nothing confirmed, as already mentioned. Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's gaming division, has not yet clarified any of the points raised by the recent rumors. Many expect that something will be officially known in the next few hours, but for now everything is silent in Redmond, so much so that speculation on what has been reported has simply become uncontrollable.
