Full team
Only one rider was missing from the team MP Motorsport to be able to definitively present its trio of drivers for the 2024 Formula 3 season, and the Dutch team has finally revealed its latest arrival: the Irishman Alex Dunnean 18-year-old who had already participated in the post-season tests in Imola, immediately demonstrating his qualities.
His path
Dunne had graduated British Formula 4 champion with the Hitech team in 2022, and then came close to winning the GB3 championship last year. In his first year with single-seaters in 2021, the new driver of the MP Motorsport team had also participated in the German, Spanish and Italian F4 championships, coming close to victory in the latter championship too. A curriculum that allows him to make his debut in F3 alongside two teammates such as Tim Tramnitz and Kasper Sztuka.
“I'm excited to start my first full season of FIA F3 with MP Motorsport – he has declared – they are proven winners in every category they compete in and I am sure they will use their experience to help me build on my first experiences with the F3 car in the post-season FIA F3 tests at Imola and then Macau. I will compete with the best drivers in this level of single-seaters, but that's what I'm here for. I'm looking forward to the challenge and can't wait to get started!”
Applause-worthy debut
Winner of the Imola test, Dunne particularly impressed Team Principal Sander Dorsman in Macau, starting negotiations to bring him to the team: “We are really excited to welcome Alex to our team – has explained – he had an exceptional year in GB3 and then, having just got into an FIA F3 car, he demonstrated his innate pace at Imola and Macau. His performance in Macau, in particular, was hard to ignore, so we were happy to seize the chance for our last place in F3. In addition to Tim and Kacper, we will have three young riders who are very fast and eager to prove their worth. I'm sure all of them will shine in their debut seasons.”
