Schumacher against everyone
In eleven years spent in Formula 1, Ralf Schumacher he shared the Jordan, Williams and Toyota garage with numerous teammates, some of them Italian. Just think of Giancarlo Fisichella, who was his first ever in 1997, before moving on to Alessandro Zanardi in Williams and Jarno Trulli in Toyota.
The only exception
Michael Schumacher's brother had a good relationship with none of these, as well as with all the others he had alongside in his F1 career, although the German still made an exception: “I didn't like my teammatesI have to say, except Jenson Button – he admitted in the podcast Formula For Success – I was difficult for my teammates because I didn't I wanted to talk about something other than the setup work what we had to do with the engineers. The teammate was always the first to be beaten. Eddie Jordan wanted the best from the drivers and Frank Williams also wanted them to fight among themselves to get more for his team.”
The 2000 season
As a result, Schumacher was only able to be more open with Button, who was meanwhile ready to face a new full-time season with team Jota in the WEC. The Englishman, 2009 world champion, made his F1 debut in 2000 with Williamsfinding himself right next to the German, finishing in eighth place in the world championship behind Schumacher, fifth.
The Schumacher brothers
Throughout his career, however, Schumacher never had the opportunity to be in a team with his brother Michaelwhich represents one of his regrets: “It would have been fantastic – he added but there was never the opportunity. One of us was always going to lose. I don't know if it would have been good from a marketing or sibling relationship perspective. It would have been amazing to do a season together. Everything has always been very open. I knew what he did, he knew what I did. It was nice to talk to someone you trusted“.
