Sofia Goggia, season over. She fractures her tibia and fibula during training
Sofia Goggia suffers a serious injury: the champion of Italian skiing was in training this morning fractured tibia and fibula while he was training in the town of Temù, in the province of Brescia. Season over.
The 31-year-old athlete from Bergamo was leading the Downhill classification with 350 points and had a considerable advantage over her rivals: the Austrian Stephanie Venier in second place is at 261, while the Swiss Lara Gut Berhami is at 209. It is unlikely to think that Sofia Goggia without being able to compete between now and the end of the season could win the trophy which she has already won 4 times in career. The Italian ski champion was also having an excellent season in Super-G where she was fourth (at 237 points, with Federica Brignone just ahead at 246, chasing the Gut-Hutter duo at 320 and 310 points respectively).
Sofia Goggia who this year also returned to excellent levels in Giant Slalomwith a crescendo in performance (fifth in the last race held at Plan de Corones) and ninth place in the general classification.
