Colombia is Locombia. There is at least a thousand documented proofs of this and there are about a thousand others missing without counting. The latest paradox in national sports is terrible. Unusual… Not to be believed!
In a fact contrary to minimal political logic, sport itself, the great loser with the unprecedented and shameful loss of the Barranquilla venue for the 2027 Pan American Games, asks that Minister Astrid Rodríguez remain in the position of which she incomprehensibly did not. has left, despite being directly responsible for this horror, by failing to comply with the payment established with Panam Sports.

The minister who should have been a former minister a long time ago – I insist – can also deservedly achieve the national record of being the first to have a motion of censure made effective by Congress.
She publicly admitted, as if she were talking about a trust in the corner store, that she did not transfer the money that was in the Ministry of Finance. And then, the President of the Republic himself, Gustavo Petro, said that due to “lack of knowledge or ignorance or fears” of some of his officials, this continental humiliation for Colombian sport happened.
Well then: despite the evidence, because the sport itself is asking, even by signed letter, that the person responsible for the affront be removed to prevent the preparation and achievement of the minimum marks for the Paris Olympics next August from becoming entangled. .
It is a terrifying paradox that borders on the absurd: sport itself comes to the defense of the minister who committed the most serious mistake, the most tremendous in the history of Colombian Olympic sport, which in itself was another surprising contradiction. Long live Locombia!
The federations, without mourning the loss of the Pan American Games venue, come out in defense of their particular interests. Necessity definitely has the face of a dog.
The justification of federations
Last Friday I spoke with William Peña, the president of the Weightlifting Federation: “Let them leave the minister until the Olympics. I am not an expert in politics, I only fight for the well-being of Colombia's weightlifters. Performance peaks in branded sports are achieved once in a lifetime for some athletes. We come in a process and we have little left. I only advocate for achieving Olympic qualification and, in our case, being on the podium as always,” he told me.
I understand their reasons and their fears, even though, at first impression, they may even seem selfish or indolent with what has happened. How to 'reward' the minister after her monumental mess? She has no presentation or justification that she is still in office.

And, of course, let's not even talk about the declaration of contempt that the minister received from the Constitutional Court for not changing an article of the Player Statute in the Football Federation in defense of the footballers' employment, nor about the order from the same court to to fulfill its functions of inspection, surveillance and control, “which it is omitting by not reviewing and analyzing the content of the statutes and regulations of the Football Federation and Dimayor.”
Everyone is the owner of their fears, and the federations have theirs, but the minister cannot and should not continue. She can not …
