Toprak-Nico challenge
The second and final day of Superbike pre-season testing scheduled on the Portuguese track of Portimao saw the Turkish phenomenon stand out Toprak Razgatliogluwho now seems to be already one with his new BMW M1000RR, with which from the end of February he will be hunting for what – if achieved – would be his second world championship title in his career.
The former Yamaha rider lapped in 1:39.189, beating the Ducati rider by just 86 thousandths Nicolò Bulegaso far always the best in previous test sessions, including that of Yesterday. To complete one top-4 occupied by four different houses then they were there Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) and Remy Gardner (Yamaha).
Rea and Bautista in difficulty
Seventh position for Jonathan Rea, also riding Iwata's YZF-R1. The six-time world champion had been the victim of a technical problem in the morning which had also generated a red flag. The reigning world champion, Alvaro Bautista, is decidedly further back, only 15th in the time rankings.
In 'MotoGP' Pecco stands out
Among the MotoGP riders present on the track, the world champion placed in front Pecco Bagnaia, followed by Fabio Di Giannantonio. However, even today the Marquez brothers did not have transponders on their respective bikes and therefore their times are unknown. Of note is a fall involving the unfortunate Franco Morbidelli during the afternoon. However, the Italian – a new addition to the Pramac team – got away without any serious consequences.
