The fact that it all has to eventually become electric doesn't mean that we can't have a little fun in the meantime. The importer must have thought something like that, because they are bringing the Audi SQ7 with a thoroughbred V8 engine back into their range. A spokesperson reported this to Top Gear Netherlands after the unveiling of the facelifted Audi Q7 and SQ7.
Before the facelift you could only order the 'normal' Q7 here, and only with a petrol engine. Since 2022, it is no longer possible to order a diesel from Audi in the Netherlands. In other countries you can still order this Audi Q7 with a V6 diesel engine, even after the facelift.
Specifications of the Audi Q7 and SQ7
A 4.0-liter V8 engine with two turbos ensures that the SQ7 produces 507 hp and 770 Nm of torque. Its sprint speed remains the same as before the facelift: you reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.1 seconds. All engines get an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Audi Q7 that we get in the Netherlands has a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine. The six-cylinder produces 340 hp and 500 Nm. From a standstill it sprints to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The electronic limiter starts to interfere at 250 km/h. The SQ7 is also limited to this speed.
The 45 TDI Quattro gets a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that produces 231 hp and 500 Nm. From 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and the top speed is 226 km/h. One step higher you will find the 50 TDI Quattro. Audi uses the same engine, but with 286 hp and 600 Nm of torque. It results in a 0-100 time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 241 km/h.
What else has changed on the Audi Q7?
The shape of the front and rear lights have changed with the facelift. Apparently you can choose from four different settings for the daytime running lights. Yippee. In addition, the light beams are placed slightly higher than on the previous Q7. The headlights also look a bit more pinched, making the Q7 look as if it doesn't quite trust something or someone.
There are also new inserts and fewer 'decorative elements' in the grille. In summary, it all looks a bit tidier than before. Audi also adds some colors to the Q7's selection menu: Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue and Chili Red. The rims measure a maximum of 22 inches.
The new facelift Q7 comes standard with all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension, matrix LED lights, a rear-view camera, lots of leather, electrically adjustable sports seats in the front, Audi's great 'virtual cockpit' and tinted windows, of course. Extras for more expensive versions include better speakers, larger wheels, steering rear wheels (only on the SQ7) and massage seats.
The prices of the Audi Q7 and SQ7 after the facelift
What the new Audis will cost in the Netherlands will be announced later. We do already have the German prices. The Q7 version that you can order in the Netherlands costs 82,500 euros there. The Audi SQ7 costs 112,000 euros in Germany. You have to add something to the Dutch price. The updated Audi Q7 will cost you at least 79,300 euros in Germany. The 50 TDI Quattro version costs at least 82,300 euros.
