Lance is preparing to face a completely electric future. But above all, a future in which its range will effectively be expanded every two years: from this year until 2028 the Italian brand will introduce three new models: the first of these is the new Ypsilon, which will debut in a couple of weeks in Milan, on February 14th to be precise. What to expect from this car? Luca Napolitano, the CEO of Lancia, tells it.
The new Ypsilon
“Let's talk about one car completely changed. A tribute due to a car so loved by Italians and in particular by women who make up 65% of buyers. We will present it in Milan on February 14, in collaboration with Cassina, one of the greatest interior designers internationally. It will be the first car of the new era, both electric and hybrid and 80% of it will be sold in Italy.”, explains Napolitano to La Stampa. The choice of Cassina as a partner was not at all random: in fact they are different shared values by the two companies, which the Lancia number identifies as Italian, iconic, innovation, research, respect for tradition and attention to environmental issues.
Also for abroad
An important model with which Lancia aims to gain market share not only in Italybut also abroad, even if this last piece will be added at a later time. “This is an ambitious challenge – admits Napolitano – Lancia needs to make a big leap in terms of positioning. We believe a lot in our plan. After all, the current Ypsilon is the record-breaking city car in Italy, the historic leader of the B segment, with 39 years of success, four generations, 3 million units sold and a fleet of one million loyal Italians on the road.”. All with one eye to electrification: we remind you that the new Ypsilon will be available in both electric and hybrid versions, and that starting from 2026 the entire Lancia range will be made up only of electric cars.
Not just Ypsilon
Despite the good numbers that Ypsilon is conquering on the market, it is difficult to think that Lancia can complete its relaunch and renaissance journey with just one model. The CEO of the Italian brand also knows this well, confirming that the business plan is ten years in the future and foresees three new cars, one every two years. “There Range it will be produced in Italy in the Melfi plant which will enter the largest segment of the market in 2026, with 50% of volumes destined for Italy. The third model, the Deltathe car that every Lancia enthusiast is waiting for and which will arouse the enthusiasm of rally lovers in Italy and beyond”, concludes Napolitano.
