The actor Henry Cavill has provided an update on the Warhammer 40,000 adaptation for Amazon Prime Video. In a recent interview with Collider, while promoting his spy thriller film Argylle, the best actor – best known for his roles as Superman and Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher – said that the production of Warhammer 40,000 is currently underway.
While Cavill wasn't able to share any details during the discussion, nor indicate when we might see the adaptation on screen, he said, “Great things are happening and we're very excited.”
This confirms that the production is still in progress and that the actor (and producer) is still fully part of the project.
Warhammer 40,000, in previous episodes
Amazon and Games Workshop, the company behind the Warhammer 40,000 universe, closed the Prime Video adaptation deal in December 2023, after a year-long negotiation. However, Games Workshop had announced the collaboration as early as December 2022, revealing at the time that Henry Cavill would be the protagonist and executive producer of the series, as well as any potential projects, such as films.
Upon announcing his involvement in 2022, Cavill had expressed his excitement in taking part in the franchise, revealing that he is a longtime fan.
He said: “I've loved Warhammer since I was a child, which makes this moment really special for me. The opportunity to lead this cinematic universe from its inception is an honor and a responsibility. I couldn't be more grateful for all the hard work from Vertigo, Amazon and Games Workshop to make this happen. A step forward towards the realization of a lifelong dream.”
Cavill is no longer Geralt, but The Witcher on Netflix continues and the fifth season will be filmed quickly.
