The objective is to “allow negotiations” with the Ministry of Justice; Lewandowski takes command of the organization on Thursday (1st.Feb)
O Brazilian army suspended the ordinance that allowed the expansion of access to weapons restricted to military police, firefighters, employees of the Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) and the GSI (Institutional Security Office). The ordinance allowed up to 5 restricted-use artifacts (rifles, for example).
In a note, the Force informed that the ordinance, which would come into force on Thursday (1st.Feb.2024), was “suspended in order to allow negotiations with the Ministry of Justice and Public Security”. The retired minister of STF (Federal Supreme Court) Ricardo Lewandowski takes command of the body on the same date.
The ordinance also allowed recipients to purchase 600 rounds of ammunition per weapon annually. The regulations are similar to those established for the military, who may have 6 weapons, 5 of which are for restricted use.
The Army ordinance with the PF (Federal Police) established that restricted weapons are those in which shots do not release kinetic energy greater than 1,750 joules. For example, the AR-15 rifles, from the manufacturer Colt, and the T4, from the company Taurus.
