Ferrari concluded the first day of Pirelli testing in Barcelona: Carlos Sainz in the morning and Charles Leclerc in the afternoon shared the SF-23 which the Cavallino team made available to the sole supplier of tires which started on the Spanish track in tire development 2025.
The work program was focused on comparing different solutions, both in terms of compounds and constructions, which have the ultimate objective of reducing tire overheating.
The total laps covered today were 139, just over the distance equivalent to two GPs: the Spanish driver completed 79 laps, while the Monegasque accumulated 60. Carlos' best time was 1'15''610, the by Charles 1'16''097. The comparison of times is irrelevant because Sainz and Leclerc never ran on equal terms, carrying out work that was “blind” for the Ferrari team.

A second Ferrari also ran on the Catalan track: it was the SF-75 which was entrusted to Arthur Leclerc on his debut in an F1 single-seater. Obviously the young Monegasque did not participate in the development work of the Pirelli tyres, but used the demo ones that can be used in training sessions with cars that are at least two years old.
Arthur, together with Oliver Bearman, has been appointed development driver: becoming familiar with the real car will allow him to have good reactions when his commitment to the simulator is required.
Tomorrow only the two starters will be involved: Charles Leclerc in the morning on the SF-23, while Carlos Sainz will get on the SF-75 to intensify training in view of the 2024 season. In the afternoon the two Ferrari drivers will exchange cars, completing the plans that were been programmed.
