“After the diagnosis I wanted to escape from the hospital.” Costantino Vitagliano vents to Verissimo and tells what happened to him

For weeks he had to remain in a bed in the ward where the doctors treated him, far from his closest loved ones. The diagnosis changed his existence forever, as the former tronista of Men and Women said in an interview.

On the occasion of an interview given to Verissimo, which aired on Sunday 21 January, the former tronista told for the first time on TV what happened to him. He had to stay in hospital for more than a month: “I found myself in another life. I am an autoimmune”, these are his words to Silvia Toffanin.

I'm not very well, it's been a bad time. My life changed overnight. I broke a tendon playing with my daughter on the couch and had a splint on my finger for 6 weeks. I went to the emergency room to have it removed and also had an ultrasound since I had pain in my sternum. The echo revealed a spot on the umbilical aorta.

After sternum ultrasound, due to a pain he felt, the doctors rushed him to hospital, without giving him an explanation. They made him understand, however, that he couldn't go around in his condition.

They admitted him to the tumor surgery department before having a definitive diagnosis. After 29 days, in fact, the doctors discovered what he had. They put a stent in him. He lost 12 kilos in 10 days. He thought he was going to die, but he was lucky, because he was not a neoplasm.

Doctors discovered that he has an autoimmune disease. He will have to undergo continuous checks. And stay at rest. The doctors, however, are optimistic about the treatment he has just started, also to keep the pain under control.

I'm autoimmune. I have this mass that makes me feel in danger on a daily basis. I'm on pills, cortisone, and I'm nervous because I never know what can happen at any moment. The switch went off and I found myself in another life.
