The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered was bombarded with negative reviews on Metacritic by some users, who brought the average score of the game to almost 6.5 and then rose up to the current 7.6 thanks to a slew of 10 “repairers”.
This is obviously nothing new review bombing it remains a sadly widespread practice and Metacritic has managed to limit it only partially by placing constraints on the release date of the games.
However, it is interesting to sift through the reasons for the various “zeros” assigned to the remaster signed by Naughty Dog, linked in many cases to the few differences with the original The Last of Us Part 2 and therefore to the purely commercial nature of this operation.
There's also the usual console war
If many criticisms leveled at The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered are linked to the product itself and its technical characteristics, it is also true that many of the negative reviews appearing on Metacritic come from profiles that instead assigned 10s to Xbox titles.
In short, it's business as usual exchange of courtesies between fanboys which has always fueled the console war and which ends up distorting tools that should in theory serve to highlight the possible distance between the judgment of critics and that of users.
