Weather | The weather cools strongly during Sunday, the driving weather becomes bad

In the coming days The weather in Finland experiences very rapid changes. The cooling weather will raise the temperature on Sunday to the plus side in some places, says the meteorologist on duty Antti Jylhä-Ollila From the Institute of Meteorology.

“Yes, the type of weather is pretty much changing here. Even in the evening and next night, the frost will be intense in many places, but by tomorrow the frost will weaken a lot,” says Jylhä-Ollila.

The cooling weather makes driving bad in a large part of Finland. On Monday, on the other hand, a storm is arriving, which will bring strong winds to the sea and partly to land areas as well. With the storm, the driving conditions worsen to very bad in southern Finland. Five to ten centimeters of snow can fall.

The sidewalks also become slippery when the temperature rises to the plus side.

The weather forecast according to Tuesday there are already plus degrees as far as Oulu, possibly also in Southern Lapland.

“The weather will probably be quite wet on Tuesday in the southern and central parts of the country,” states Jylhä-Ollila.

According to him, the snow won't have time to melt, even though the weather will cool down and the weather will turn slushy for a while on Tuesday.

“There is an incredible amount of snow and that mild phase is so short that yes, this winter with heavy snow will continue.”

Starting from Wednesday, the weather front will calm down, and there will be a backwater possibly at least over the next weekend.

The rains are expected to be light and the temperature will again drop to the freezing side. However, a return to the bitter cold of recent times is not in sight, at least not yet.

“Of course, in the very east and north, the frost can be between ten and twenty degrees,” says Jylhä-Ollila.
