Transfer market, Matija Popovic to Milan. The Serbian talent arrived in Milan
Matija Popovic and Milan are very close. The attacking midfielder, born in 2006, had impressed the Rossoneri club (and not only) at the Under-17 European Championships played with the Serbian national team: he landed in Milan to define the details of his marriage with the Devil which should lead to a contract until 2028. At this point the competition from Manchester City, which was strong on this gem whose contract expired (last December 31st) with Partizan Belgrade, has (almost) burned out.
Matija Popovic is a versatile player who can vary across the entire attacking front: attacking midfielder capable of playing as an offensive winger and new false midfielder. In the match between Serbia Under 17 and Italy (coached by Bernardo Corradi) he was the protagonist of the 2-0 with two assists of pure class.
Popovic will strengthen Ignazio Abate's Milan Primavera, but given the opportunities that Stefano Pioli has conceded – being repaid – for many Rossoneri talents (from Alex Jimenez to Kevin Zeroli, passing through Jan-Carlo Simic, Davide Bartesaghi, Francesco Camarda without forgetting Chaka Traorè, the latter joining the first team this year) you can bet that soon we could see him make his debut at San Siro.
Milan shows that they believe a lot in Matija Popovic given that he would occupy the last seasonal slot as a non-EU citizen. Therefore, all the rumors related to Serhou Guirassy are put to rest: the 27-year-old Stuttgart (and Guinean national team) striker who has an 18 million clause, but also a non-EU player.
