On the case of Emanuele Pozzolo, the work of the Biella prosecutor's office continues at a rapid pace on what happened on New Year's Eve in the pro loco of Rosazza, where a gunshot fired from the weapon of the Fratelli d'Italia deputy wounded Luca Campana, a 31-year-old electrician, in the leg.
The point about the investigations
The testimonies given immediately after the incident and those collected in the following days are being examined by investigators, including those of the undersecretary of Justice, Andrea Delmastro, of his sister Francesca Delmastro, mayor of Rosazza, and of the councilor for public works of the Municipality of Biella , Davide Zappalà heard yesterday afternoon as witnesses at the Palace of Justice. Meanwhile, while awaiting the outcome of the stub, an examination which will have to ascertain whether or not the presence of gunpowder residues on the parliamentarian's hands and clothes, the investigators could already in the next few days entrust ballistics consultancy to reconstruct the trajectory of the bullet. At the moment, however, the parliamentarian's summons to the prosecutor's office for questioning should not be imminent.
The witness: “Gun pointed at my table”
“I didn't physically see who shot, at that moment I was picking up some glasses, looking at the table I simply saw that someone had the gun in his hand, frankly in my naivety I immediately thought it was a lighter, it was facing our way so in the doubt I said to myself 'I'm going'”. Thus one witnesses that on New Year's Eve he was present in the Rosazza pro loco and that he has already been interviewed by the investigators.
“I was looking at the table, it was the last one near the kitchen, I glanced over and saw a hand with a gun but I didn't stop – he reiterated – I took a few steps, just enough time to go into the corridor and I heard the bang. I'm not able to say who was holding it because I had no reason to look, there was nothing particular to look at at that moment, it wasn't a dangerous situation.”
The other witnesses heard in the Prosecutor's Office
On the Pozzolo case, the undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro was heard as a witness in the prosecutor's office in Biella on 8 January.
“I did my duty, I have nothing else to declare, I said what I had to who I had to” said Francesca Delmastro, mayor of Rosazza, leaving the Biella courthouse on the same day. “I have no impressions, there is an ongoing investigation,” she added.
The councilor for Public Works of the Municipality of Biella, Davide Zappalà and the councilor Luca Zani were also heard as witnesses. “I was present in the room but there are investigations underway, I prefer to wait for the definitive outcome” said the councilor for Public Works of the Municipality of Biella, Davide Zappalà. “That evening I didn't have the opportunity to attend the most important events, as I explained to the prosecutor, I heard the bang but I didn't see who shot and I didn't even see Pozzolo with the gun in his hand, I saw the gun at the end of the evening when the marshals put it away”, he added, later specifying that he does not know how much time passed from the entry of the FdI deputy into the premises of the pro loco to the moment of the shot. “I wouldn't know also because I don't know when Pozzolo entered”.
As for his impressions of the whole affair, Zappalà limited himself to observing: “I think the media attention is being exaggerated a bit even though there are prominent figures.”
