Ukrainian authorities said that four civilians were killed on Monday in the latest air attack in which missiles and drones were used.
Local officials reported that two people were killed in the western Khmelnitsky region.
Oleksandr Vilkul, mayor of Kryvyi Rih, said that a 62-year-old man was killed and a shopping center and dozens of homes and residential buildings were damaged after nine Russian missiles struck the city located in the south-central part of the country.
Russia said it bombed military-industrial targets in Ukraine from the sea and air on Monday.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, “This morning, a major attack was carried out with high-precision, long-range naval and air weapons, including the hypersonic Kinzhal missile, on the facilities of the military-industrial complex in Ukraine.”
Ukraine announced that its air defenses were able to shoot down 18 out of a total of 51 missiles, which is a much lower shooting rate than usual.
Air Force spokesman Yuri Ihnat told Ukrainian television that confronting these missiles is more difficult.
All eight drones launched towards Ukraine were shot down, according to the authorities.
A local official in the eastern city of Kharkiv said that a site was damaged by at least four missile strikes.
He added that a 63-year-old woman was killed in an air strike on a town south of Kharkiv.
Five people were injured in the city of Zaporizhya in the southeast of the country, where regional governor Yuri Malashko reported that areas had been bombed.
